If the sky were to tear/tear open
Updated: Jul 30
Inspired by Joy Harjo
if the sky were to tear/tear open
my mouth would gape, just as wide
lips of awe
yearning to taste the invisible
on the other side
if the sky were to tear/tear open
i would feel from where blue comes
finally understanding
its favouritism since grade one
if the sky were to tear/tear open
i would see him
seated on his throne
vanished by a windless gust
and inside this sky
rains forth a prize of gold
weightless
i’ll be ready
on a night unbeknownst to all
but the unmet sage within
who whispers
you’re ready
for when the sky
tears/tears open again
